Mobile Engineer (Offline-first)

Own the offline half of the mobile app - local capture, the tap grid, and the sync and conflict resolution that keeps a session intact when the signal drops.

EngineeringRemote (US)Full-time

Cadence ABA builds AI-native clinical software for ABA practices - capturing session data by voice, structuring it in real time, and drafting billable session notes so clinicians can stay focused on the child instead of a tablet. The product runs offline for in-session data capture, and we're looking for a Mobile Engineer to own and strengthen that offline-first experience across our mobile app.

What you'll do

  • Design, build, and maintain offline-first mobile features, including local data capture, conflict resolution, and sync with backend services once connectivity returns
  • Work on the tap grid and related in-session capture flows that must function reliably with no signal
  • Optimize local storage, caching, and background sync so clinical data is never lost between capture and the signed note
  • Collaborate with backend and product teams to ensure captured trial data, audio, and session state reconcile cleanly across devices
  • Debug and resolve sync conflicts, data integrity issues, and edge cases specific to intermittent or absent connectivity
  • Write tests and instrumentation to catch offline/online transition bugs before they reach clinicians in the field

What we're looking for

  • Several years of professional mobile engineering experience (iOS, Android, or cross-platform frameworks such as React Native or Flutter)
  • Hands-on experience building offline-first or offline-tolerant mobile applications, including local databases and sync strategies
  • Strong understanding of data consistency, conflict resolution, and eventual consistency patterns on constrained or intermittent networks
  • Experience working with structured local storage (e.g., SQLite, Realm, or similar embedded databases)
  • Comfort working in a regulated or compliance-sensitive environment where data integrity and auditability matter
  • Solid testing practices, including writing tests for edge cases around connectivity loss and data reconciliation

Nice to have

  • Experience in health tech, clinical software, or another HIPAA-regulated domain
  • Familiarity with voice capture, transcription, or audio-handling pipelines on mobile
  • Experience shipping apps used in the field by clinicians or frontline workers where reliability is critical
