AI you can put your name on.

Cadence uses AI on purpose, and carefully. It does the work around your clinical judgment, never the judgment itself. Here is how we keep it honest.

The AI suggests. Licensed clinicians decide.

Cadence’s AI can structure your spoken data, draft a note, suggest a mastery or phase change, assemble a reauthorization packet, or answer a question about your caseload. It can never sign a note, decide on a suggestion, or submit a claim. A clinical or billable record reaches the permanent record only through an explicit human confirmation, and every one of those confirmations is logged. Every figure traces to committed data.

The data behind a note is computed deterministically from confirmed records, the AI is instructed to reuse those figures verbatim, and a data-anchor check flags any percentage that doesn’t match a committed measurement before you sign. It re-runs on every revision, so a rewrite can never smuggle in a number. Underneath, each target is graphed in the metric its measurement system calls for, and reliability is checked with real interobserver agreement math.

Your clients’ names never reach the model.

Model calls carry a de-identified token in place of the child’s name: you see the real name in the app, the model never does. PHI is encrypted at the field level, it is never used to train AI models, our AI provider operates under a signed HIPAA business associate agreement, and every AI action - what it read, what it suggested - is written to a tamper-evident, append-only audit trail.

Tested, not just shipped.

Each AI helper is graded against a labeled corpus of real ABA scenarios, with the anti-fabrication guard asserted as a regression test. And clinical work never depends on a model being reachable: tap capture and a deterministic note template work with no AI and no connectivity at all. System status reports the application and database; a degraded model provider shows up in the app, where capture and notes fall back to their deterministic paths.

The hard limits

What Cadence’s AI will never do.

  • Sign a note, report, or assessment - that attestation is yours.
  • Decide a clinical suggestion (mastery, phase change, target change) on its own.
  • Submit a claim to a payer, or invent a unit, code, or authorization number.
  • State a measurement that isn’t in your committed data.
  • See a client’s name, or act anywhere off the audit trail.
  • Automate a clinical decision - even the one low-risk action Cadence can take on its own (archiving a plan whose targets are all complete) is a configurable, off-by-default, non-clinical convenience.

What does Cadence's AI actually do?
Cadence's AI takes on the work around a clinician's judgment, through 10 helpers that each watch one slice of it. It turns spoken session data into structured trials, evaluates mastery and reads trends, drafts SOAP notes, progress reports, treatment plans, and family updates, watches authorizations and unsigned notes, and answers questions about your caseload. Every one of them suggests or drafts; a licensed clinician reviews, decides, and signs.
Which Cadence plans include the AI?
Every plan includes AI. Capture has voice capture and auto-drafted session notes. Clinical adds the clinical reasoning: mastery evaluation and phase-change suggestions, trend interpretation, progress reports, treatment-plan drafting, the morning briefing, and Ask Cadence, the caseload assistant. Practice adds authorization tracking with drafted reauthorization packets and the compliance sweep.
Is my clients' data used to train AI models?
No. Cadence never uses PHI to train AI models, its own or a vendor's. Model calls carry a de-identified token in place of the client's name, so the model never sees who a session was with; the AI provider operates under a signed HIPAA business associate agreement and does not train on API traffic; and every AI action is written to an append-only audit log.
How does Cadence stop the AI from inventing numbers in a note?
Every figure in a draft is checked against committed data before you sign. The numbers behind a note are computed deterministically from confirmed records, the AI is instructed to reuse them verbatim, and a data-anchor check flags any percentage in the draft that does not match a committed measurement. The same check re-runs when you ask Cadence to revise a note, so a rewrite cannot introduce a figure that is not in your data.
What is Ask Cadence?
Ask Cadence is a read-only assistant for clinical staff that answers questions about their own caseload, such as who needs attention today, which reauthorizations are due, or how a client's targets are trending. It answers by looking up committed data through read-only tools scoped to what your role may see, and it cannot change a record. Client names are swapped for de-identified tokens before a question reaches the model. It is included on the Clinical and Practice plans.
What happens if the AI is unavailable?
Sessions carry on. The eyes-up tap grid captures data with no AI and no network at all, and a deterministic note template drafts the session note from committed data when a model cannot be reached. Clinical work never waits on a model provider; the AI makes the work faster when it is there, and its absence never blocks a session or a signature.
